Lenso Wheels

Before Buying a Double DIN Head Unit

The universal Cable or ISO

Just so you know, all car radios that are purchased come with a universal cable or ISO. But many experts who manufacture cars of many different brands claim that the connector that is convenient is not the ISO. So to connect any double DIN head unit to the car, you should buy the adapter cable which any workshop that install stereos will provide. Not only does it cost a lot, but also you need to throw away some stuff to put it in position. It costs between 10 and 20 Euros.

The frame

All car radios are manufactured in 2 types of different standard: 1 DIN or 2 DIN standard which is the largest. The problem here is that car manufacturers put in the car a radio that, in many cases, does not follow the size standard that I mentioned earlier. The result is that if you want to change it, you may have a gap in one of the sides of the radio. This is no problem because plastic frames are made for all car models and they fit almost any type of car radio even if it is 1 DIN or 2 DIN head unit. The only downside is that we have to invest more. Fortunately, it is not much. Maybe it is just 10 or 15 Euros, but you have to add it to the price of the 2 DIN head unit.

The 2 DIN head unit can be controlled from the steering wheel?

Many cars have the cool steering wheel with which you can control the car radio by the radio buttons. But if you change the radio into a double DIN head unit, forget about it unless you buy the adapter cable for it. This adapter, so-called interface, is more complex than a simple cable. The only drawback is that this interface costs money. If your car is new maybe it is worth making the investment. But if the car is old and you are thinking about changing it, I do not think it is worthwhile to buy the adapter. Many radios which are in the box or can be purchased separately have a small remote control that is placed on the steering wheel. It is not only very comfortable but at least you do not have to be turning the head to touch a button.

Types of Car Air Fresheners

Can

The can style of air freshener is similar to the sticky gel, and consists of a metal or plastic can that holds a sweet-smelling fragrant gel pack. The can has a top section with adjustable holes which makes it easy to determine the amount of fragrance to release at any one time. While these products have the potential to last longer than most of the sticky gel products, they still aren’t very effective at removing the strongest smells in the vehicle.

Plug-in

The plug-in fresheners are a popular choice and consist of an oil-based compound that is contained within a plastic housing. They are designed to plug into the power outlet on the dashboard, and start to emit a fragrance once the oil-based compound is heated. This plug-in is great for strong odors, and soon fills the entire car with a sweet-smelling fragrance.

Spray

The spray type of freshener is quick and easy to use. The liquid-gaseous fragrance for these air fresheners comes in a pressurized can which can be sprayed when an unpleasant smell is noticed. Spray fresheners aren’t the longest lasting and will need to be sprayed at regular intervals if hoping to block out the most powerful odors.

Sticky Gel

The sticky gel air fresheners are made with a solid, sticky type of gel that holds the fragrant oil. This type of freshener easily sticks to any dry surface within the vehicle without a need to use adhesive. Also, because it doesn’t rely on the air vents or other form of propulsion it isn’t as effective at eliminating the stronger smells inside the vehicle. A positive of the fragrant oil is the ability to last longer than the aerosol, paper or cardboard products.

Fender Flares

Fender flares are legally required if you’re planning to put on larger tires. You need to determine what set of fender flares you want or need. Finding the style that fits with your vehicle will depend on your preference and your personality. There are different brands that offer this automotive part in various color, shapes and sizes, but it can be categorized into one of 4 styles:

• OE Style

This style will give an added style on the basic stock look on your vehicle. This is also preferred by those who just want to hide a small amount of body rust or damage in their vehicle. Take note that some OE style fender flares does not use the same factory holes and may require drilling.

• Street Style

Street Flares provides protection around the wheel well and fenders, plus an added style and low-profile appearance on the vehicle. It has a smaller profile compared to OE style. You can usually see this on showroom style trucks.

• Pocket / Bolt Style

The Pocket / Bolt Style provide protection while giving an extremely rugged and tough look on your ride. It’s a no-drill installation, unlike the OE style that requires drilling. It is created with a bolt set in each number of pockets which gives bolt-on appearance.

• Extended Style

If you want your vehicle to look tougher but needs a serious extension, then you have to put on the extended style fenders. These are usually seen on heavy duty-looking vehicles but not as aggressive as the looks you can get from the bolted style.
